Rookie picks law school over NFL, concussions

After starting at linebacker the past two seasons for Ohio State, Andrew Sweat decided football wasn't worth it -- literally.

Despite signing as an undrafted rookie with the Cleveland Browns and attending their minicamp this spring, Sweat quickly reversed course to pursue law school.

He tweeted Monday: "Concussion symptoms didn't want to risk it.. Thanks to the browns for the opportunity. Health trumps football any day"

Sweat's decision was panned by the website Deadspin, which advised him to pursue the six-figure salary afforded to undrafted rookies who stick on NFL rosters rather than the hardships and frequent debts associated with law school, especially since it seems he's not ticketed for a Tier 1 program.

That elicited another tweet from Sweat:

@Deadspin might need to get facts right. "good setup" my dad has a very successful law firm think I'm okay here..

Seems like a mature and reasonable decision from our section of the cheap seats.
