a new opinion in Video Games about Nintendo Wii Sports Resort Pak

Price:
Don't know because it is part of a bundle of the Wii console (Sainsbury's offer of ?135.99). It is definitely cheaper than buying the game alone.
Overview -
12 games to play, 7 more than Wii Resort and some are easy to play. It is for all ages and abilities.
Extra hardware -
Wii motion plus included. This add-on supposes to improve the sensing of player movements by the console. If this is true, I can't imagine how frustrating it is for playing games without the Wii motion plus module (see below).

General comment on game play:
This fun of this game comes from the motion sensing part of the game i.e. you don't need to learn a lot of key combinations to execute some moves. Just press one button and move the Wii remote and you are going - easy! The motion sensing takes away a lot of complex key/button combinations that are required in other game consoles for shooting, jumping etc.
Some games has practice option and some don't. The reason for it is some are easy to pick up and some require practice round to learn the basic controls of the game. Up to 4 players per game and one Wii remote + motion plus can be shared among players in some game options i.e. players taking turns. Some sensing issues spoiled the fun - Wii motion ++++ is required in the future.
Graphics:
Well if you are aiming for high definition graphics game play or realistic 3D game play. Not this game! The hardware limits the resolution of the game display - only 560i or 480p. For a big TV, it is not really high definition comparing to others e.g. Xbox 360 which are capable of delivering 1080p. The graphics of this game is good enough as a fun game. In fact once you are into the game, you can easily forget about the not so high definition graphics.
GAMES
Swordplay:
- very easy to play, in fact anyone can swing about to beat the opponent at the early levels of duel. That's why there is no practice option. At this stage, anyone who can move one or both arms can play. However when the player advance to more competent opponents, it requires more proper attacking and defending moves. Also, you have to be very fast in showdown. Well, anyone who can move one or both arms can play. Beware! The duel and showdown may be a bit violent for younger children.
Wakeboarding:
- easy to do straight up and down jumps across the wake; difficult to do acrobatic jumps and land safely. Anyone who can use both hands to grab the wii remote and move their arms a bit can play. No violence involved.
Fisbee:
Here comes the sensing issue, at some point during the game the sensing goes hay-wire. I was doing exactly the same horizontal move and yet the fisbee just dropped like a stone (like a vertical throw). Re-calibration of the Wii remote was needed from time to time. Annoying. For the game play, you need to work with the not too good sensing (too sensitive or not sensitive enough) in order to throw a fisbee properly. For younger children, they may get frustrated even though there is a cute puppy (for catching the flying fisbee) to lure them into the game. This is for 6 years old and above.
Archery: (Wii remote = bow, Nunchuck = string and strength)
Similar sensing issue again. One day I was playing a few rounds. The first two went okay and then suddenly at the first round, I just couldn't hold my bow horizontally to aim at the target. Instead I had to point the Wii remote towards the floor to get the focus spot level with the target. Also, at some point it missed the target by some distance horizontally even I was holding the Wii remote perfectly in the middle. As a result, the Wii remote needed re-calibration from time to time.
What will happen if they didn't invent the Wii motion plus?
When it is working, this is really a fun game. However the game does require player to hold the Wii remote (bow) with a straighten arm for some time while the player use the Nunchuck to focus and shoot the arrow. The Wii remote is fairly heavy and not good for younger children. Even for an adult, you may want to rest your arm for a while after a few rounds.
Basketball:
No practice option and straight into 3-point contest to train quick-shooting technique. At this stage anyone who can flick the Wii remote upward can do it. However it gets really complicated when playing with opponents - buttons and motion sensing are both required. Once you have learned the controls, the game is fun.
Table tennis:
No practice option. Some sensing issue. If I tried to flip my 'bat' horizontally from front to back hand. The sensor is too slow to pick it up and I ended up losing the point. Also, the sensor sometimes mis-interpret straight hit as curled ball - unfairly losing the point. However anyone can play because your Mii (your representative in the game) can automatically move his/her legs according to the incoming direction of the ball. All you need to do is return with the Wii remote in a forward motion with one arm. Of course this is not just a one repetitive move game. The quicker you move the stronger your return is and perhaps you can twist the remote slightly to do a curled ball as well. Since I can't even pass the first opponent (sensing issue or I am not good at it), it makes a good challenge and lure you into it to do better. Also, this game is quite physical because your opponent very rarely do slow returns.
Golf:
When it works, it is good. Sensing issue again. At some point the sensor decided my right hand should be my left. As a result all my forward swing with my right hand became backward swing and vice versa. I didn't really this at first and ended up landing my golf ball in all sorts of unwanted places and huge swing ended up with a baby hit. A straight line hit became a curled one. It needed re-calibration to cure the issue. It was quite amusing to the other people in the room.
This games requies both hands holding the wii remote and player standing up because just like playing real golf, you are holding the remote and point it towards the floor. To hit just press A and swing upward (needs a bit of space around you).
Beware! This game is quite physical and do not try too hard otherwise you may injure yourself - definitely not for someone with arthritis.

Bowling:
Love it! Anyone who can swing one arm can play when it sensing properly. You can align your line of throw to the pins and even zoom in for a more accurate alignment especially when there is only one pin left to hit. With this, everyone is capable of hitting all the pins i.e. a strike.
Sensing issue again. Even if I did the same move, sometimes the sensor picked up the signal as I had thrown the ball too early and gave me a reminder screen of how to throw the ball. I know how to bowl!
The spin control part of the game is challenging and fun.
Power Cruising:
Very fast! Anyone who can hold the Wii remote horizontally with both hands and move sideways a bit can play. However it is easy to lose control for the tight turns (requires a bit of finesse)!
Canoeing:
For anyone who can hold the Wii remote with both hands and can do paddling.
Physically hard work and have to race against the clock and ducks. Fun! Sensing is okay.
Cycling:
For anybody who can hold the Wii remote in one hand and Nunchuck in the other. Then move them up and down alternatively to simulate pedalling forward.
Physically hard work too. During the race you can see you progress i.e. position in the race on screen. There is a heartbeat monitor on screen too. If you are paddling too fast, you Mii runs out of energy and will stop for a drink. So it requires some careful paddling i.e. don't over-work your Mii. Also, there are tight turns along the way. Don't forget to brake (well stop paddling may do). No sensing issue.
Air sports:
For anyone who can hold a Wii remote and can do some degree of movement (tilt sideways or flip sideways/vertically). Easy for all ages.
For the skydiving, very difficult to get a perfect 'catch' i.e. link up with other skydivers flying your way into a circle as big as possible. The link-up sometimes is a bit hilarious because you may link your foot with someone's hand and vice versa - not always holding hands. Then there is a camera to take pictures for any successful
good catch and then play them back to you at the end of the round.
Flying around the island is relatively easier and calmer and you can enjoy the view. Anyone can do this and relax a bit. Well if Nintendo can slightly tune up the graphics to 720p/1080p and put in some high definition landscape. This could be a big hit - Flight Simulator for novice.
Overall summary:
A pack of good fun games for all ages and abilities. Sometimes when the sensor is not picking up the player's movement accurately, the facial expression of the player and the game play display on screen
