Kids health in the classroom | Getting A Job Interview

School kids tend to spend more time at school as compared to home. The healthy habits that they acquire from the classrooms can be of significance to their lives. Parents and medical practitioners strive to make kids to be conscious about their health. However, teachers should be responsible for educating them on healthy habits.

Proper nutrition and physical fitness are very important aspects of healthiness that school children should think about every day. Teachers should use posters and boards to teach children about the disadvantages of eating unhealthy food. Fitness lessons should also be taught in school such as short weekly yoga activities. This should be done by a fitness coach. Other personal healthy habits include: enough sleep and oral hygiene. Children should be taught the benefits of keeping their teeth clean all the time and the benefits of enough sleep. This should be done in an approachable way and asking questions and results.

When addressing health problems, teachers should stress on the importance of prevention. Awareness programs should be developed and evaluation done on the overall impact it has on children. Some of the common problems that school children face include; obesity, diabetes, asthma, alcoholism, smoking and other drug abuse. Instructor should teach children to focus on the magazines and movies around them so as to have an insight of the effects of unhealthy habits. Adult students should also be made to create storyboards depicting the consequences of indulging in drug and substance abuse.

Emotional and mental health form integral part of a child?s well being just like the physical health. Stress management, conflict management, prevention of depression and self esteem are some of the skills that should be taught in classroom. This is very important because they touch on emotion which is very critical in a child?s well being.

Teachers should ask the children to come up with list of what they have accomplished and the interests and skills that they have which are important to their lives .Goals of each child should be evaluated so that he or she can be assisted on how to go about achieving them. On the other hand, older students can be provided with books and movies to use as a guide for recognizing signs and symptoms of depression and how to overcome it before it has fully blown out of proportion. Prayers should be part and parcel of wellness training.
