New York, NY (PRWEB) June 17, 2010

Venture capitalist Jalak Jobanputra received the ?Outstanding 50 Asian Americans in Business? award from the Asian-American Business Development Center, Inc (AABDC) for her contribution to fostering entrepreneurship.

The Award was presented at a ceremony in New York City on June 10th attended by leaders from government, business and civic communities. This annual event, now in its ninth year, is the only forum to highlight the achievements of Asian Americans across the United States. David Hinson, National Director, Minority Business Agency with the US Department of Commerce, and Aneesh Chopra, the first Federal Chief Technology Officer of the United States, spoke at the ceremony. The awards recipients represent a microcosm of the best of Asian American business owners, professionals and corporate executives who are engaged in a wide range of business interests. Ms Jobanputra was selected for her contributions to the growth of technology and new media entrepreneurship in New York City, her commitment to providing mentorship for women in business on both a local and global scale, and her support for social entrepreneurship worldwide.

?I am honored to have been selected for this award. The evening recognized the contributions of this important immigrant community to the prosperity of this country; it is a true testament to the American Dream,? Jobanputra said. ?I am fortunate to be able to bring about positive and meaningful change through investing in new generations of entrepreneurs, as they are the backbone of any economy. Technology has removed some of the barriers involved in starting new businesses, so it is an exciting time work in this intersection of technology investing, social ventures and empowering women.?
